Conservative Papal Accusers are Fortunate Pope Francis is Liberal

The conservative accusers of Pope Francis commit heresy and schism by their accusation against him and by their determination to resist him. But they are fortunate that the Pope is liberal, not conservative. A conservative Pope like Pius X would not tolerate being accused of heresy. He would excommunicate all signatories ferendae sententiae. He would declare, correctly, that the signatories are automatically excommunicated (latae sententiae). He would command that they be fired from their positions in Catholic institutions, and laicized if ordained. And that is what they deserve for accusing the Pope of heresy.

It is a dogma of the First Vatican Council and an ancient teaching of the Church that no Pope can teach heresy or grave error, and no Pope can commit apostasy, heresy, or schism. It is a teaching and a Church law that The First See is judged by no one. And they have both judged and condemned him. By doing so, they commit formal heresy and formal schism, they become unworthy of Communion, and they are automatically excommunicated.

And this is true of anyone who accuses Pope Francis of heresy, whether they sign a document, or sign a petition supporting the document, or accuse him without signing. Anathema sint.

None of the Pope’s accusers even address the teaching of Vatican I or the past teachings of Popes on this topic. They all assume that past Popes committed heresy, especially Honorius and John 22. Both of those Popes are innocent, as previously discussed.

* The Roman Pontiff: Immunity from Error and Never-failing Faith
* Was Pope Honorius I a heretic? No.
* The Innocence of Pope John XXII

* Open Letter Accusing the Pope of heresy
List of Signatories (original and subsequent)
* Petition for those wishing to join them in heresy and schism

So conservative critics of the Pope are fortunate that he is liberal, not conservative. If a Pope like Pius X were in office, he would not spare them. And if they say in objection, “If a Pius X were in office, we would not accuse him!”

My reply is this: So, you admit you are schismatics! For you obey one Pope, but not another; you accept one Pope as Teacher and Shepherd, but not another. That type of division is schism itself.

Moreover, faith requires us to believe what the Pope teaches regardless of whether he is liberal or conservative. By accepting only the conservative Popes, you show your lack of faith, since you do not believe because he speaks for Christ, but only because his words are pleasing to you.

  1. Denis says:

“you show your lack of (Catholic) faith, since you do not believe because he speaks for Christ, but only because his words are pleasing to you” – precisely! “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…teaching them to OBEY everything I have commanded you” (Mt 28:18,20). Disobedience reigns in the culture and sadly also in some (formerly Catholic) clergy and laity.
