I spent the morning reading through the recent IAEA report on Iran’s nuclear program, entitled:
Implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement and relevant provisions of Security Council resolutions in the Islamic Republic of Iran
Date: 8 November 2011
It is availble in PDF format from the New York Times website.
The report indicates that, based on many reliable sources of information, Iran has spent many years researching, developing, testing, and building all of the components needed for an implosion-type nuclear bomb. They lack sufficient highly enriched uranium. But otherwise, all other components are ready or nearly ready for testing. They have even built an underground nuclear bomb testing facility.
Iran is also in the process of researching and testing the components needed to put that nuclear bomb into a missile. The longest range missile that Iran currently possesses can reach a target up to 2000 km away. Israel is within range of such a missile, if fired from Iran. And Europe is in range of such a missile, if fired from northern Africa.
When Iran completes its first nuclear bomb, they will (hopefully) first test it in its underground testing facility. This explosion will be detectable by other nations. So we will have warning that Iran has nukes. However, it is possible that Iran might skip the test, and simply deploy and explode the bomb against its (perceived) enemies.
I believe that Iran will use its nuclear bomb against the U.S. as soon as it is able, and that this attack will mark the beginning of World War 3 and the Apocalypse.
