Will Pope Leo 14th be like Pope Leo 13th?

Pope Leo XIII, 1878-1903: “In faith and in the teaching of morality, God Himself made the Church a partaker of His divine authority, and through His heavenly gift she cannot be deceived. She is therefore the greatest and most reliable teacher of mankind, and in her swells an inviolable right to teach them.” [Encyclical Libertas, June 20, 1888, n. 27]

It is a shame the speed with which the local priesthood tries to forget pope Francis, when they all bowed down only a month ago. Not noticing that pope Leo clearly said he will continue Francis’ road. Not realizing their betrayal will be all exposed and evident to Leo XIV. I’d wish pope Leo the boldness and not to be stopped as Francis was by these meager people who should never be ordained, who repulse God’s flock on daily basis, who make the Church what it is today. If he has to retire priests and bishops, let he do it. They have money, they won’t go on the street as many of their parishioners in the Third world This is not unity, this is decay what we witness on all levels in the Church, not only in the Curia, not only on sexual matters.

Some are not shy to say Francis is either in hell or deep purgatory, but he is in heaven. Because this is the light of the Holy Spirit since Vatican II. Those people sin against the Holy Spirit. Call Vatican III and change it if they will. Unity on all cost means a tragic failure of the Church in her promises during 6 popes, 3 of whom are canonized saints. We are told the Church and the pope can’t err in canonizations, besides other teachings.

The dragging of feet of priests and bishops blocking any meaningful reform was remarkable during the last years of pope Francis. They did not include lay faithful in the synodal discussions among those who spent their lives in the Church. I do not know of such. Maybe there were somewhere.

Now with the election of pope Leo XIV that dragging of feet is even worse. They stay silent not saying a word for the new pope’s ideas, hoping for “the storm to pass” i.e. NOTHING TO CHANGE, in first place in their lavish lifestyle. Hidden behind well known quotes of the Gospel and their opulence at the expense of poor parishioners or subsidies from unknown sources. Because it is obvious the expensive cars, luxury furniture that surpass many times the financial means of a modest income (even without giving to the poor) do not come solely by Sunday collections. Who pays the priests’ lavish lifestyle? At the same time the Vatican doesn’t have millions to pay the pensions of retired bishops? All in the name of the Gospel, unity, in the name of traditions, that they themselves have long abandoned.

Could the “unity on all cost” be the trojan horse that will see the Church depopulated even further? What will be sacrificed – not the Communion to all in Germany for obvious reasons. Then what? What will be the difference if the only grand thing I take back from the Church is the Holy Communion that doesn’t belong to the priests as property in first place? What else do they give to God’s people? Their example? Their love? Their guidance? Is that the kind of Church we want to grow in love to God and the neighbor?

    Thanks Ben, perfect answer given.

As you said, we must do “pray, repent, forgive, love, have mercy to others.”

    Praise the lord.

For the Pope Francis funeral, Trump, zelansky, ..attended. That’s Western world. Putin or Gin pin Communist leaders didn’t come. China doesn’t support Vatican to appoint bishops there. In Vietnam, there are Roman catholic churches. How about in Cuba ? Now USA has the power and balance the world. If USA fall, then ?

    what’s fatima 3rd secret ? False ?

    Garbandal warning? False?

    Conchita is still living.

St. Malachi pope list false ?

or God has extended the grace period?

and shortened the 3.5 year term as Jesus told?

    • Ben's avatar Ben says:

Sunimal Fernando, many of us are asking these same questions. I don’t have the answers. Maybe nobody has them fully, maybe not even the pope who has read the secrets. I don’t think the prophecies you mentioned or others are false. But their timing was either misunderstood, postponed, or we didn’t respond to the grace that was offered. By “we” I mean the majority of the Catholics or even those who consider themselves devote Catholics. How many of us pray for the conversion of Russia? Then why are we surprised the consecration of 2022 still doesn’t give visible fruits?

Marija Lunetti of Medjugorje said in the Fall of 2017 that she hoped the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary could happen in that same Fall 2017. It didn’t happen. But that raises very reasonable questions: could it happen without the secrets taking place first? What is today’s sequence of prophetic events, because apparently it is not the same anymore as we were told some 40 years ago. Unfortunately, the seers (not just Medjugorje, all seers) are very reluctant to shed light on the secret events, and instead repeat what is most important but what we already know: pray, repent, forgive, love, have mercy to others. It is a disappointing to hear over and over again when you are sure you have been doing that for years, for decades, although not perfectly. But that is God’s will. As when Jesus asked Peter three times “do you love me?” and Peter was saddened.

About “shortened the 3.5 year term as Jesus told?” we are not in the final 3.5 years yet. We would have antichrist, false prophet, and mark of the beast if we were there. Thanks God we are not.

    • James F Belcher's avatar James F Belcher says:

We are in the “END OF TIMES” and as far as I know there was never a definitive duration of time on how long it will last. There was never a single event triggering the “END OF TIMES”. I believe the apparitions in Medjugorje and Garabandal will be fulfilled within the upcoming years.
We are currently seeing how fast the world changes within a 24 hour period ie. India and Pakistan, New nation arises out of Pakistan, Turkey and Russia attacking Libya, Civil unrest in China and so on.
Iran probably has one or two nukes today and will utilize them in the near future regardless of whether or not the USA and Israel demolish the nuclear facilities in Iran
I believe we have 15 years to go before the “three days of darkness”. Many events will unfold in this very long duration of time.

I appreciate the quotes from pope Leo XIII. Pope Leo XIV would have read his encyclicals if he chose that name.

The election of pope Leo XIV happened exactly to keep the Church united. So what service those youtube “gray cardinals” play then, if they try to ruin the just started pontificate of pope Leo? He clearly stated his reverence for pope Francis and his way that will continue. Did they not hear it? Rather they want to make pope Leo listen to THEM. Wrong choice! As the cardinals didn’t listen to their videos whom to elect. It is absurd what they want to make – a hardliner conservative out of the pope who served the poor Peruvians…

Humility is needed, not arrogance. We had enough of it already with daily critics of pope Francis not only on internet but also in church yards after Latin masses of priests who condoned that happening. Now we have a humble pastor (if some consider Francis as not humble enough to their taste). Let show the best of ourselves too. Let pray for him, let listen to him. To be elected pope, he got extraordinary grace from the Holy Spirit. Let not pre-determine what it means, because we can’t. It is given to him. Rather listen attentively and then follow it.

  6. Ben's avatar Ben says:

Now everyone tries to make pope Leo on his side. Everyone who DIDN’T GUESS CORRECTLY who will be elected pope. Just browse the videos of those pundits who until the last moment boosted card. Pizzaballa (who was unelectable because of his complicated political situation). Who painted cardinal Sarah in an old latin rite in Vatican. At the same time cardinals Dolan and Burke supported by African and Asian cardinals arranged the election of cardinal Prevost opposed to card. Parolin (according to published in the media testimonies of insiders). These same pundits now explain how it was reasonable to elect him. And how pope Leo was more conservative than expected. Maybe he is. But they failed guessing then. Why should I believe them now?

Pope Leo clearly said he continues the line of pope Francis. But with his own style. It is highly unlikely pope Leo to restrict the latin mass. That doesn’t mean he is against the reform of the curia and of the Church as a whole, that he is against the synodal way, or he is returning things to pre-Vatican II. Those people who want to see it happen, will deny any factual evidence and will continue blindly as they did to the conclave. Up to their own peril. Yes, because most likely now we enter into the prophesied events. And if they are so blind as not to see and hear what pope Leo says, they will equally refuse to believe their ears and eyes then. They have been warned. I don’t intend to comment on every step of pope Leo, but to pray for him. He even admitted the AI could do something good besides being only concern. The most I hate is when priests take the position of “yes we knew it coming, yes he is “ours”, yes…God said this and that”…hei where were you just a week ago? Hiding in the grass awaiting who of the lions will come? It is a shame! May God give pope Leo the strength to clear the Church thoroughly…so the Church continues.

  7. Jeffrey's avatar Jeffrey says:

A big problem in the Church is the growth, because of social media, of Protestantized Catholics who write and speak as if the pope is just one interpreter of the Catholic faith among others. I hope that Pope Leo is fully aware of the increasingly disruptive, deleterious of these people within the Church and that he corrects them. We need a revival of Vatican I.

  8. Sunimal Fernando's avatar Sunimal Fernando says:

    Ron,

How you think, why he chose Leo ?

is he centric not conservative, Not liberal ?

seems to be innocent from outlook.

    • Ron Conte's avatar Ron Conte says:

I think he wanted to signal that he would be neither particularly liberal, so not Francis II, nor particularly conservative, so not Pius XIII.

  9. Sunimal Fernando's avatar Sunimal Fernando says:

He issued a record eleven papal encyclicals on the rosary, earning him the title “Rosary Pope”. He also approved two new Marian scapulars.
