Pope Francis died today, 21 April 2025, after a reign of 12 years and 40 days. He showed great love for the poor, the ill, prisoners, and anyone marginalized by society. His teachings were more so those of a pastor who loved his flock, and less so those of a theologian. His disciplines were lenient and tended toward the liberal side of Catholicism. He will also be remembered for his efforts to marginalize the more conservative Latin Mass Catholics. His successor will be chosen in accordance with the rules of a document written by Pope Saint John Paul II, and modified somewhat by Pope Benedict XVI, Universi Dominici Gregis
I think that Francis’ successor is very likely to be a conservative older Cardinal, or possibly a Bishop. My prediction is that this next Pope will take the name Pope Pius XIII.
I think and hope that the next Pope will be solidly conservative, and will settle various controversies raised by some of Pope Francis’ documents and decisions.

Ron,
It certainly feels like the next Pope will take the name of Pius XIII.
Pope Francis, pray for us.
Pope Francis’ passing appears to be providential.
I wonder if the canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis on April 27, will be postponed?
Is it April 27th?! It has to be postponed as canonizations are done under papal authority.
Holy See Communiqué, 21.04.2025
Following the death of the Supreme Pontiff Francis, it is announced that the Eucharistic Celebration and the Rite of canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis, scheduled to take place on 27 April 2025, Second Sunday of Easter or Divine Mercy Sunday, on the occasion of the Jubilee of Teenagers, is suspended.
The next Pope has a lot of restoration work on his hands.
