Setting aside for now the question of the personal sins and failings of Michael Voris, I have to point out the problems with his preaching and teaching. For over 18 years, Michael Voris has promoted grave theological errors and has maligned many leaders of the Catholic Church. In my opinion, the following are the main errors of Michael Voris in his work at Church Militant:

* Michael Voris has taught grave theological errors.
* Voris has openly contradicted and opposed many teachings and decisions of the Church.
* Voris has taught an ultra-conservative hate-imbued version of Catholicism.
* Voris has made frequent personal attacks on Cardinals, Bishops, priests and scholars whose ideas are different from his own.
* Voris and others at Church Militant speak as if they had a role to supervise, judge, correct, and condemn any alleged errors by persons in authority in the Church.
* Voris and others at Church Militant teach as if their every assertion on doctrine or discipline is absolutely certain and cannot err, and as if anyone who disagrees, even the Pope and Bishops, must be wrong.

* Michael Voris has used his role at Church Militant to spread hatred against LGBT persons.
* Many videos and articles by Michael Voris, or attributed to “Church Militant” as author, contain malicious gay slurs (many prefixed with “homo” followed by various suffixes).
* One video of the show “The Download” ridicules trans persons and calls them mentally ill; this view is falsely attributed to the Catholic Church.
* Church Militant is listed with the Southern Poverty Law Center as an anti-LGBT hate group and Voris is the subject of multiple articles giving examples of his hateful ultra-conservative ideology.

* the Eucharist was kept in a tabernacle at Church Militant headquarters, possibly without permission of the local Bishop, in contradiction to Canon law [Can. 934, 1, 2]
* Mass is celebrated at Church Militant headquarters, possibly without the approval of the local Bishop.
* Michael Voris has repeatedly verbally attacked the Bishop and diocese in which Church Militant is located. Voris was long ago prohibited from using the name “Catholic” for his work, due to conflicts with the Bishop over the content of his teaching.

I don’t know if Michael Voris is truly repentant from his sins related to homosexuality. But even if he were, he have never expressed remorse or repentance from the above mentioned error and failings. In my opinion, Michael Voris was never fit to teach the Catholic Faith, as he has a poor understanding of theology and often expresses malice and hatred toward others. May God forbid him from ever teaching or leading in Catholic media ever again.

Regarding Current Accusations

Michael Voris has been accused of sexual sins, including homosexual relationships, grooming of male employees, and sending x-rated pictures of himself (leaving some of these pictures on the company DropBox account), all while spewing extreme anger and hatred toward gay persons. This type of hypocrisy makes him unfit for the role that he has taken in preaching, teaching, and leading others in religion.

Many online commentors have expressed their prayers and support for Michael Voris. They have taken the position that we are all sinners and forgiveness is always available from God. This is praiseworthy before God. However, even if he repents from his sexual sins, he is not fit to teach the Faith.

Now an issue arises regarding the many persons who attribute their conversion or their encouragement in the Catholic Faith to Voris and Church Militant. There are many grave theological errors as well as highly uncharitable videos and articles on that website. The version of Catholicism taught there is not orthodox and often shows rebellion against the teaching authority of the Church, and contempt for the persons of the Pope and Bishops. In addition, Voris has imbued his perverse version of Catholicism with ultra-conservative views on politics and society, as well as hatred for many groups and persons.

I must ask those who have learned the Catholic Faith from Michael Voris or Church Militant to set aside those unreliable sources of information on Catholic doctrine. Now focus on the documents of the Popes and Ecumenical Council. Read the writings of the Fathers, Doctors, and Saints of the Church. Use the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church as guides in your journey forward in the true Catholic Faith. Please do not be misled by the distorted version of Catholicism preached by Michael Voris and Church Militant. Though Voris has left the organization, the website still contains a great deal of harmful and false claims about Catholic teaching as well as hatred toward many groups and persons.

{11:13} For false apostles, such as these deceitful workers, are presenting themselves as if they were Apostles of Christ.
{11:14} And no wonder, for even Satan presents himself as if he were an Angel of light.

In my opinion, Michael Voris has always publicly taught a false version of the Gospel and the Catholic Faith, and has exalted himself as if he were an apostle above the Popes and Bishops to judge and correct them. Voris spoke as if he were saving the Church from the grave errors of Her leaders, while presenting himself as if he were an angel of light. Michael Voris is a highly-skilled communicator; he is charismatic and personable. However, these qualities are no guarantee that his teaching is faithful or that his life is holy.

If anyone was converted or has experienced a spiritual renewal, which they attribute to Michael Voris or Church Militant, this was the work of the grace of God, received in spite of the grave errors of that person and group. Set aside those false teachers who may have announced Christ insincerely, who are false apostles and deceitful workers. Renew your understanding of the Catholic Christian Faith, and correct any errors that you may have learned from Voris or Church Militant. And please do not confuse conservatism with Catholicism. Those who teach a highly-politicized and ultra-conservative version of Catholicism are preaching a false gospel. Trust the Magisterium of the Church of Jesus Christ above every fallen sinner and every shining leader.
