Los Angeles, CA, was originally named after the Virgin Mary
An LA Times article in 2005 discusses the city’s original name. Everyone agrees that the city was not originally called Los Angeles (“The Angels”). What was LA first called?
LA was originally called either “The town of Our Lady of the Angels” or “The town of Our Lady, the Queen of the Angels”. In any case, the city of LA was named after the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is the Queen of all Angels.
How I wish that the city of LA would live up to its original name!
