The Tribulation: First Seal

From my translation (the CPDV) of the Latin Vulgate Bible:

[Revelation 6]
{6:1} And I saw that the Lamb had opened one of the seven seals. And I heard one of the four living creatures saying, in a voice like thunder: “Draw near and see.”
{6:2} And I saw, and behold, a white horse. And he who was sitting upon it was holding a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he went forth conquering, so that he might prevail.

Most people do not realize that the Old Testament book of Zechariah (chap. 6) has a similar prophecy, involving horses of different colors as figures for different types of afflictions upon the world. The white horses in that prophecy, pulling a chariot, go out to the land to the North of Israel. In the modern interpretation, that would be Europe.

In these verses from the book of Revelation, the first event of the apocalypse, which is the first Seal and the first horseman, is represented by a rider on a white horse. The rider of the horse has a bow, representing weapons of war. A crown is given to him, meaning that the aggressors in this war will be victorious. They will go forth conquering; they are not fighting in defense of their nations. And they will prevail (for a time).

This first event of the tribulation is World War 3. It is the war of the Arab/Muslim nations of the Middle East and northern Africa against Europe and its allies (including the U.S.). These nations, led by extremists, will succeed in conquering Europe; they will occupy a vast territory for many years.

In my eschatology, this war begins soon, and it unfolds throughout the mid 2010’s, winding down about 2018/2019.
